In 2001, Chevrolet reintroduced the Z06 nameplate with the launch of the C5-generation Corvette. It was offered as a coupe only and featured several other performance-enhancing features, including a lighter body and a more powerful suspension.
The C6-generation Corvette debuted in 2005. It came with an all-new Z06 model.
