The Barrett-Jackson 2026 Scottsdale auction was a big moment for both Chevrolet and America's heroes. During the 2026 auction, a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X sold for a staggering $2.6 million. The final price will go to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a charity that gives mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families.
The Corvette ZR1X is 1-of-1
Chevrolet is extremely proud of their ZR1X and knows its legacy goes far beyond horsepower or sleek good looks. Chevrolet's vice president at Global Chevrolet explains: "To honor those who serve, Chevrolet created a 1-of-1 edition of America's quickest production car, the Corvette ZR1X. We're proud the winning bid will go directly to supporting first responders and veterans in need across the United States through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation."
The lucky winner of the auction is Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. Hendrick also owns Hendrick Motorsports. His big prize was a Stars & Steel-inspired Corvette ZR1X that was hand-painted at General Motors' Design Fabrication shop. It boasts blue brake calipers and other assorted blue accents. Powering this 1-of-1 ZR1X is a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that'll roar right out of the gates and for decades to come.
Tunnel to Towers CEO Frank Siller took the time to weigh in on Chevrolet's generous gift. "General Motors and Chevrolet have proudly stood with Tunnel to Towers in honoring those who serve and sacrifice for our nation. This incredible gift will help us continue delivering on our promise never to forget the families of our fallen heroes and to ensure our catastrophically injured veterans can live their lives with the dignity and independence they deserve."
The Barrett-Jackson charity auction isn't a new stop for Chevrolet. They've coordinated with Barrett-Jackson for over 15 years. During this time, Chevy's creations have brought in millions of dollars for worthy causes. Their total auction haul is $15.5 million, and so many people are thankful that Chevrolet took the time to enter into this generous partnership. Craig Jackson, the CEO and chairman of Barrett-Jackson, was thrilled with the ZR1X auction. "The winning bidder has purchased a truly amazing car that is sure to be a very special piece of automotive history."
