Chevrolet Reveals Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype at Daytona

Ahead of this year's legendary DAYTONA 500 race, Chevrolet revealed its new Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype. Although this innovative concept vehicle didn't hit the track, it showcased what an electric race car of the future may look like. Here's an overview of the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype's biggest highlights.

High-Performance Electric Powertrain

Instead of traditional V8 engine technology, the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype features an all-electric powertrain. Not only do the prototype's three six-phase motors develop around 1,300 horsepower, but they also rev up to 15,000 rpm.

Power is routed to a programmable all-wheel drive system, which allows for precise torque distribution to the wheels. Built on a modified Next Gen chassis, the EV.R prototype also features track-ready suspension components and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires.

True Race Car Styling

In terms of styling, the EV.R is based on the road-going Chevrolet Blazer SS EV. However, its racier appearance is not to be overlooked. Engineers wanted to obtain the best aerodynamic shape. A wide body design and high rear wing make it look ready to compete on the NASCAR circuit. You'll also notice the prototype's ultra-low stance, which will aid its ability to remain glued to the pavement on tight curves.

Motorsports Innovation

The EV.R NASCAR Prototype allows Chevy to explore new technologies that can be used in future motorsport programs. These same innovative technologies can also be transferred to production cars.
